Welcome to my blog, Today, I am gonna share how to make soft idli at home. My mom makes delicious idlies really soft and fluffy. The mixture proportion is the main trick to get the idli soft. Let us see How To Make Soft Idli at Home?

 

Method: 1

Ingredients to make soft idli at home:

Idli Rice –  5 cups

Urad dhal – 1 cup

 

Batter Preparation:

Wash Idli rice(Raw) for two times and soak it for two hours.

Wash urad dhal one time and soak it for one hour.

Grind Urad dhal with added sufficient water for about 45 minutes separately.

Grind Raw idli rice with added sufficient water for about 15 minutes and keep aside.

Add Rice flour with dhal flour and mix it till it gets fluffy.

Leave the mixture for fermentation for about 8 hours.

Before making idli make sure mix the flour well.

 

By this way, you can make a soft idli at home.

 

Method: 2

Ingredients to make soft idli at home:

Idli Rice – 2 cups

Urad dhal – 1 cup

fenugreek seeds – 1 Tsp

Cooked Rice – 1/2 cup

 

Batter Preparation:

Add water and soak idli rice for 4 hours.

Add water and soak urad dhal with fenugreek seeds for 4 hours.

Grind Urad dhal with added sufficient water for about 45 minutes separately.

Add cooked rice with the raw idli rice and grind it well by adding sufficient water.

Add salt and mix it well with clean hands.

Its recommended using hands to mix to get soft idly.

 

This is one of the methods, to make soft idly at home.

 

Idly Preparation:

Take required amount of batter into a separate bowl.

If refrigerated, Bring back the temperature of batter to room temperature.

Add required amount of salt and mix it well.

Fill the bottom of idly vessel with water and switch on the flame.

Wait till the steam comes out of the water.

There are two types of idly maker one with pour holes and without holes.

Use a cotton cloth to cover the steam holes in the plate.

Pour in the batter over the cloth in the idly plates.

Place the idly plates inside the vessel and covet it with lid.

Maintain medium flame for 10 minutes to cook the idly.

After 10 minutes check whether the idly is cooked and switch off the flame.
